Nik Johnson, the Labour Party candidate, has won the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayoral election with 51.3% of the vote.
Johnson beat the incumbent Conservative mayor James Palmer in the second round, after all three candidates in the fray failed to win 50% votes in the first round. After the second count Johnson received 113,994 votes (51.3%) with Palmer on 108,195 votes (48.7%).Liberal Democrat’s Aidan Van de Weyer came third with 26.7% of the first preference votes.
