The ongoing consultations by the Network Railway for its proposed upgrade of seven level crossings, including Fen Road in Milton, closes on 11 April.
The proposals include upgrading to full barrier operated crossing, installation of obstacle detection (OD) or CCTV systems and acquiring of some adjacent land. The proposed work is part of its C3R project to upgrade signalling around Cambridge to improve efficiency and reliability for all users.
Upgrading to full barriers will mean the barriers will be down for longer durations and is likely to increase waiting times for road users. The proposed acquiring of land also has implications for any future expansion of the Milton Country Park.
