Never before have parks and green spaces been so valued for our physical and mental wellbeing.
Milton Country Park is managed by Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust, a charity which receives no regular external funding and its survival is reliant on the support of its users and the activity and events programme it provides.
The impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain future for millions of charities and businesses.
Milton Country Park is no exception and has now lost all income required to keep it open as a viable park with a free access model.
A post on Facebook says: “We are fighting to remain open to provide a safe green space for people to access, exercise, and take time in while, and if, they are still able.
“The park will have a vital role to play in our recovery; as a safe haven, a place of solace, for our physical and mental well-being, with a careful return to regular activities, and eventually for coming together again.
“Please help us to keep going and manage our way through these most challenging times.
“We want to be there for our visitors and we look to you to help us.”
