Consultation on the A10 cycle bridge

You may have seen in the Village View that the Parish Council are seeking your views on whether cyclists should be required to dismount when crossing the footbridge over the A10 that connects Butt Lane and the Park and Ride site.

Currently the sign “cyclists dismount” is advisory. This means that cyclists may cycle across the bridge. A change would mean that cyclists were required to dismount and walk across at all times. The question asked by the Parish Council is: “Should it be made compulsory that cyclists have to dismount to cross over the A10 bridge?”

A poll in the Milton Community Facebook group asking this question had more than 200 responses with roughly two thirds of responses against a change to the curtain situation and a third in favour of making dismounting compulsory. Concerns about impolite and dangerous cyclists have been raised, as have questions over the realistic probability of such a rule being policed.

If you would like to make sure you view is heard by Milton Parish Council please email clerk@miltonvillage.org.uk answering the question “Should it be made compulsory that cyclists have to dismount to cross over the A10 bridge?” with either YES or NO. Please include your full name and address so they will consider your view.
