Milton high street was on fire for a while on Sunday lunchtime when a manhole cover exploded and blew off its cover with flames and black smoke. All very impressive until they set fire to the garden fence next to it.

Unfortunately for a lot of people in the high street it blew out their electricity. That was restored at about 5pm.

Mark England reported on milton-chat that:

This was an exploding low-voltage link box, something I’m somewhat

London}, where cables are old and heavily loaded.
