A man who died while out running in Milton last week has now been identified.
The man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, was found collapsed by two members of the public on a footpath at the entrance to Milton Country Park off Fen Road at just after 5pm on Wednesday.
Police, ambulance and MAGPAS attended, but despite best efforts he was pronounced dead at about 5:35pm.
It is believed he died of natural causes and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A public appeal was launched in order to identify the man and two days later on Friday police received a phone call from a man saying his colleague had failed to turn up to a meeting that morning. After seeing the appeal he believed the runner may have been his colleague.
A name and address was given, so officers went to the house in Landbeach and tried the key found with the deceased, which fitted the door.
Personal documentation was located which identified the man’s family lives in Australia.
Sergeant Alice Draper said:
We would like to thank members of the public and media for sharing our appeal and helping to identify this man.
We have made contact with his family in Australia and have now passed the case to the coroner.
