As we mentioned before from 19th October to 19th January topographical surveys are being carried out for the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme. Topographical surveys will allow Highways England to map the layout and level of the existing road, drainage network and the adjacent land so that they can fully understand the landscape they will be working in and finalize the design of the new road.
Surveys will be taking place along the whole of the proposed scheme route, this includes the land where the new Huntingdon southern bypass would be built and the existing A1 and A14 that form part of the scheme. Surveys of the existing route will require lane closures in both directions and will take place at night only (between 8pm and 6am) to minimize any disruption to traffic.
Lane closures local to us are are currently scheduled overnight this week on:
- Monday (9/11) and Tuesday (10/11): A14 westbound between junction 33 (Milton) and junction 32 (Histon)
- Wednesday (11/11): A1 northbound between Brampton Hut and Alconbury and A14 between junction 23 and 24 (Huntingdon)
- Thursday (12/11) and Friday (13/11): A14 Eastbound between junction 32 (Histon) and junction 33 (Milton)
