Cambridgeshire County Council‘s Community Gritting scheme allows people like you to step in during extended periods of freezing weather to clear routes in your area that are not part of the County Council’s gritting programme for footways.

The County Council’s insurance will covers anyone who undertakes footway gritting as long as they meet the following criteria:

• They have completed and returned the registration form (that will be included in the training pack) and comply with the training
• They have gritted within 24 hours of receiving an alert from the County Council, asking them to grit
• They have gritted the routes approved by the County Council
• They have made an appropriate record of their gritting
