Milton Bus Campaign had their day at Shire Hall today to appeal the decision to remove the school bus to Impington Village College.
We do not yet have the full reasons for the councillors decision to stop the process after only hearing the Local Authority case, but are very happy that they agreed to uphold our appeal.
Councillors summing up statement was:
The three councillors have discussed this back in private, and to be perfectly honest with you, at this point in time the three councillors have come to a decision that we do not believe the council has presented a good enough case for us to uphold their case and we are of the decision, without hearing, but based on the excellent evidence that has been provided by all the parents, that we would make the decision that your appeal is upheld.
They did go on to say that the route could be improved and that the bus is not guaranteed if improvements are made, but for now, we have a bus in September.
We have video of the decision (you may have to turn the volume up a bit, it’s a bit quiet):
Sally Champion, one of the main people in the campaign said:
It’s an overwhelming win for us. We are not naive enough to think that the council won’t come back with improvements to the route, but as responsible parents we would welcome that.
It’s been a great team effort. A lot of people who didn’t know each have been brought together and it’s been a real community effort.
The Milton Bus Campaign team would like to thank everyone that has helped what this campaign. The parents, our councillors, both Milton Primary and IVC schools and the wider community. There are too many people to mention individually, but we thank you all.
