The Friends of Milton Country Park are holding their AGM Talk at the Park Visitor’s Centre on Saturday 9th May from 2:00pm. The talk is “in the heart of an apple is an orchard invisible…” given by Joanna Crosby.
The title is taken from an old Welsh proverb, which sums up the spirit that inspires the planting of any orchard, particularly community orchards. Joanna will be explaining the background to the Trumpington community orchard project, taking us through the stages of its creation, planting and maintenance. She will be drawing on examples from orchards old and new to celebrate the emotional and cultural bond that we have with apples and orchards. This talk links in well with the Community Orchard Project at Milton Country Park which has been reviving and extending the Orchard area at the Park.
The talk will be preceded by a brief AGM of the Friends of Milton Country Park, followed by refreshments provided by the committee, and walk around the Park’s community orchard. There is no charge for this event, children and non-members welcome.
