A doggy tea party and craft fair have been announced as new additions to the annual Milton Gala Day and Fun Dog Show, which is held in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices ( EACH).
Organized by the Milton Friends of EACH, which is made up of local families who have benefited from EACH services, the Milton Gala Day and Fun Dog Show 2015 will take place on Saturday 16th May 2015 at Milton Hall, Ely Road, Milton. The day starts at 11am and will finish at 3:30pm.
Now in its 11th year, the event promises the usual mix of stalls and games for adults and children with an animal petting area, bouncy castle and refreshments. New for 2015 is a Craft Fair with a range of great stalls due to be held in All Saints’ Church. There will also be a classic car display and members of the Totally Unstable Scooter Club will be attending to show off their scooters!
Back by popular demand from last year’s event will be the fun dog show, which will be hosted by STAR Radio personality Nicksy. The event will see categories such as handsomest dog, best puppy, best rescue dog and dog most like its owner. There will also be a chance for dogs to ‘have-a-go’ on agility equipment.
Last year’s best in show prize was awarded to Deogie, a 4 year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, who also works as a Pets as Therapy dog at the charity’s Milton hospice.
Deogie’s owner Neil Emmerson, said:
The Gala Day and Fun Dog Show was a great day to be part of and we were so proud of Deogie for winning best in show. We try to support EACH in any way we can and Deogie makes regular visits to the hospice as a Pets as Therapy dog. It’s something that we get a lot out of and you can see the effect it has on the children at the hospice when we visit – it’s a wonderful thing to be a part of.
This year’s dog show has kindly been sponsored by St Ives based sister companies Dog Friendly Magazine which features dog friendly holidays and readers who write about their experiences and dog herbal tea company, WOOF&BREW.
Steve Bennett, Co-founder of WOOF&BREW and DogFriendly said:
We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause for a second year. Last year was such a success and it was so good to see visitors enjoying themselves. We are looking forward to an even bigger and better event this year.
New for this year is also a doggy tea party, kindly arranged by WOOF&BREW, which will be held during the dog show. The tea party will see all entrants enjoying a refreshing WOOF&BREW herbal tea drink and have the opportunity to try doggie treats after their hard work in the show.
Karen Newton, EACH Cambridgeshire Fundraiser, said:
We’re thrilled that the Milton Friends of EACH continue to organise this fun filled event, which is an ideal day out for the whole family. The event just gets better every year and I’d like to say a big thank you to all the organisers, our sponsors and volunteers who help to make the day such a success. Also to the Ely Friends of EACH volunteer group who have got involved this year to ensure a great day is had by all!
All the money raised allows EACH to continue our vital work across Cambridgeshire caring for young people with life-threatening conditions and supporting their families.
If you can help publicize this event then we have a flyer (which includes details of how local businesses can sponsor the event at prices started at £50) and a poster you can download and display.
