As some villagers may already know the new footgolf course at the old golf course on Ely Road recently applied for a 24/7 licence which would allow it to serve alcohol any time, day and night, seven days a week, plus “Adult Entertainment”, and live music both inside and outside the building.
Unsurprisingly Milton Parish Council objected most strongly to this application (See page 5 and 6 of the agenda of for this month’s meeting (Adobe/PDF, 223KB).) which also received comments from the police. As a result South Cambridgeshire District Council now propose the following changes to the licence:
- The opening hours will be changed to 09:00 to 23:00 hours 7 days a week (this is less than the previous licence that ran until midnight)
- The Adult Entertainment has been removed from the application
- Under the “Live music Act” the club would be allowed legally to hold live music until 11:00pm without requiring a licence, and the new proposed timings will not go beyond this time anyway.
- It has been made clear to the Golf Club that all four licensing objectives{-The Licensing Act 2003 sets out four licensing objectives which must be taken into account when a local authority carries out its functions. They are:
- the prevention of crime and disorder,
- public safety,
- prevention of public nuisance, and
- the protection of children from harm
-} must be observed at all times which includes things like ensuring windows and doors will be closed during any regulated entertainment inside the building, so as to prevent any undue disturbance to neighbouring properties.
