As promised LNER B1 class 4-6-0 No. 61306 “Mayflower” is back again on Saturday (21/3) hauling The Cathedrals Express from Horsted Keynes on the Bluebell Line to Ely and this time we really are getting to see it twice, and in the day time both times too.
“Mayflower” at Milton level crossing on its last visit
According to UKSteam Info it departs from Cambridge at 13:22 and isn’t taking water after that and is due to arrive at Ely at 13:43 so it’s going to cross Fen Road level crossing somewhere around 13:25 from the look of it. On the return leg it departs Ely at 17:05 and arrive at Cambridge at 17:28 so it should pass Fen Road level crossing a second time at around 17:25.
By the way we think this may be the last steam hauled train on the line until October.
