We have a steam double header The Cathedrals Express coming through Milton this Saturday (6/12) hauled by two Black Fives 44871 and 45407 going from Southend to Norwich. Double headers are rare enough in themself and in addition it’s possible that neither of which have been this way before so that’s an extra treat.

They should pass the Fen Road level crossing the first time at about 10:50am on the way to Ely heading for Norwich. They will return in the dark at about 5:50pm.

Full timings available online here. They leave Cambridge at 10:47am and unusually they are not taking on water at Chesterton sidings on the way north which should mean they do turn up at Fen Road at the expected time for a change …
