Zombies in the Country Park

Another themed race is taking place in Milton Country Park this Saturday (25/10). This time it’s a Zombie Evacuation Race called Contagion in Cambridge, a 5K theatrical fun run with
‘waves’ of racers setting off between 11am and approximately 4pm.

Zombies attack

Spectators are welcome at the event. The format is a ‘theatrical race’ whereby participants race through a number of zones that host the Zombies. It should be clearly signposted what to expect where, on site, on the day. Dogs are requested to be kept on leads during the course of the event. Please note the Parkrun event is also taking place as normal at 9am on Saturday morning, so it will be a busy day at the park.

The main car parking for people attending the event will be based on the existing car parks at the main entrance to the Park, supplemented by some additional spaces on the neighbouring industrial estate. These details have been communicated to the participants.

The organisers will be making use of the same field down Fen Road that was used as parking for the recent Spartan Event but only for approximately 50-100 cars belonging to staff & volunteers. These cars are expected to arrive between 8:30am and 10am on Saturday and leave sometime later in the afternoon. Using the space in the field on Fen Road in this way will mean that more space is kept free at the southern end of the site throughout the course of the day.

In the unlikely event that the car parking capacity at the southern end cannot cope then the organisers do plan to use the field on Fen Road as an emergency overflow. It is obviously difficult to predict the number of additional cars if that were to happen but it is expected to be a very manageable number.

In view of these arrangements there are no additional traffic measures planned for Fen Road on Saturday.

Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust ask if residents can please help by being as cooperative as possible. If you live on Fen Road and do not wish to leave your car on the road on Saturday the organisers have repeated the offer to park inside the field free of charge. The gate to the field is expected to open from 8am and close by 5:30pm. Hopefully this is a good compromise for all concerned.
