Fen Road is being re-surfacing tomorrow (Thursday 24/7) on Friday 25/7. It’s surface dressing
not a full blown re-surface i.e. spray with liquid tar then pour gravel over the top of that. It is being done from the high street as far as number 74 – that’s the last house, where the pavement stops. The road will be closed to “through traffic” while they do it – not that there’s much of that by car but there is a lot by bicycle.
Cambridgeshire County Council say the purpose of it is to seal the road surface in order to prevent water ingress (and subsequent freeze-thaw action) in order to prevent potholes. Sadly this does nothing to address the potholes further down Fen Road, which have now caused at least two injury accidents, for that we apparently have to wait even longer for action.
