We’ve already written here about how this event will affect our local bus services but it’s now becoming clear that we’d failed to appreciate quite how badly affected Cambridge will be by this event on 7th July. The whole of the centre of Cambridge will effectively be shut, not only to cars but even to bicycles and that displaced traffic, plus the extra traffic of visitors coming to see the event is going to make this “interesting” for the rest of the city.

The bottom line seems to be that you really won’t want to go anywhere near Cambridge unless you want to see the event. We’re hearing on the grapevine of a number of business which have decided to simply close for the day as it will be impossible for staff to get to and from work.

Meanwhile closer to home the latest news is that various schools used by Milton children including Milton Primary School and Impington Village College will be closed but no doubt parents will be being contacted directly on that.
