The ongoing saga of the state of Fen Road took a turn for the worse last Saturday when Richard Youell, a jogger from Waterbeach, broke his ankle while trying to negotiate the potholes on Fen Road. As a result our county councillor, Maurice Leeke, asked for an urgent meeting with the local highways manager and he reported on Tuesday that:
The highways officer has agreed to get the pot holes repaired urgently,
and to put in an order to get the road resurfaced in April. She has
also agreed to take a look at the state of the mud on the road and the
verges with a view to contacting Network Rail on the issue.
So, finally, we are going to get some action on Fen Road after many years of complaints by villagers and the parish council. It’s just a shame it’s taken a broken ankle and at least six weeks in plaster for poor Richard to make it happen.
