It costs £20.00 to install and there is also a quarterly charge for the hire and monitoring of equipment. The charges for 2013/14 are: £55.38 or £4.26 per week (without VAT).

However Alison emailed to say that it’s not the only option: the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk also run a similar service. Their Careline Personal Alarm works exactly the same way and although we’re not in their district they do cover Milton.

Their installation charge is higher at £35.40 but their weekly rental is only £2.76 so you’re saving £1.50 a week which mean you’ll be in profit after ten weeks. So good value is you’re on a fixed income!
