Slightly outside Milton but the Cambridgeshire Archaeology and the County Farms Estate will be holding a free guided walk around historic Landbeach on Wednesday (1/5) from 7pm.
The village of Landbeach has a rich heritage stretching back as far as the Iron Age. This includes the remains of two medieval manors, whose earthworks can still be seen today. In addition a medieval Tithe Barn still stands in the village. The tour will look at all these sites, as well as the rest of the historic village.
Stephen Macaulay, Senior Project Manager with Oxford Archaeology East said:
There is a great wealth of archaeology at Landbeach and throughout all of the Cambridgeshire County Farms Estate, which I hope people will be able to see for themselves. This is just the first of this year’s guided tours around important ancient monuments offered by Cambridgeshire Archaeology and Oxford Archaeology East in 2013.
Anyone wishing go on the guided walk should meet Stephen Macaulay at the entrance to Worts Meadow, by the Recreation Ground (CB25 9FT) at 7pm on Wednesday. For further details on this or any other guided walks on the ancient monuments please contact Cambridgeshire Archaeology 01223 728564.
