Come and find out more about reuse, recycling and what happens to your waste at the annual Recycling Open Day organised jointly by Cambridgeshire County Council and AmeyCespa this Saturday (22/9) from 10am to 4pm at Waste Management Park on Ely Road, Waterbeach.
A whole range of activities for the entire family will be on offer, including the chance to take a full tour of the site and visit the Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant and materials recycling facility, which is currently under construction.
The tour will also provide an opportunity to understand the composting process and see the scale of the waste challenge at the landfill site.
Model making activities using recycled materials and taking a ride in some of AmeyCespa’s vehicles are always popular attractions with children and adults alike.
A unique opportunity will be brought to this year’s event by local artists at Oblique Arts, who will be running a pop-up second-hand fashion installation as part of the Wear It Love It Share It campaign run by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Waste Partnership and AmeyCespa.
Visitors can have an on the spot fashion make-over and the opportunity to pose on a catwalk. They will also receive expert advice on how to dress well for less whilst reducing their impact on the environment, by up-cycling and re-using clothes and buying second-hand.
Visitors will also be able to see a range of recycling, composting and machinery exhibitions and stands from local councils, companies, community and environmental groups.
