If getting the Fen Road level crossing by 08:15 on Thursday in time to catch Oliver Cromwell on Thursday was hard then this Saturday’s steam visit is not for you. LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 no 60019 Bittern, which has visited us before is currently running as 4492 Dominion of New Zealand in full LNER garter blue livery with side valances and chrome trimming.
It is steaming north past Milton this Saturday (10/12) morning at about 06:40(!) hauling “The Christmas White Rose” from Cambridge to York. The service will return after dark at about 22:05 but will be diesel hauled at that point, the locomotive having being detached at Peterborough.
Full details here.
But it’s not all bad news. Tornado is back. It’s visiting Milton this Monday lunchtime and next Monday lunchtime. More on that later.
