We’ve heard via Milton Village View of another source of live bus data which you may find useful if you’ve got a smart phone. What’s on Now: Cambridge offers a number of information facilities but most importantly, for mobile phone users only, an extra option “Travel” will automatically find you bus stops close to you (if you let you phone reveal its location to the site) and then show you the same live timetable information we offer on the village web site.
If you have an Android phone you might also like to try the miniBus app which was written by someone at Cambridge University as a project. It is also a location based service but as you can see in the screen shot on the right it shows you a map of where you are (the blue dot) with all the nearby bus stops (the red flags).
You then pick one and it shows you what buses are coming and when. Again it’s the same live timetable information we use on the village web site.
As these are both location based services, and as the County seem to making it increasingly difficult to find the stop code at bus stops you may find either or both of these useful if you’re roaming in Cambridge and looking for a bus.
