Become a Panel Member and give SCDC Your Views

You are being invited to step forward to join a panel that will help shape the decisions that affect Milton. South Cambridgeshire District Council councillors are committed to listening to residents and to make sure the right decisions are made for people in the district, a new Consultation Panel will give people from all parts of the district an easier way to give their views on services.

Responses to consultations have not traditionally given a true reflection of the views of all groups within South Cambridgeshire, but by contacting a panel of residents with quick and easy online surveys, councillors aim to get more people to get involved in the decision making process.

Providing feedback to the Council at a click of a button may be convenient for some panel members, but if others still prefer to use the post or phone they will be able to choose it.

People on the Consultation Panel will give their views on district-wide and more local topics, ranging from Council Tax and bin collections to open spaces and sporting activities.

Cllr Tom Bygott, South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Cabinet member for policy and performance, said:

We always aim to be a listening council and want to make it easier for residents to give us their views on things that matter to local people. Views from residents always help us shape and improve services, and we want to get a balanced view that reflects all parts of the community to help us make the right decisions. The panel will help us to consult throughout the year, but it is our residents who will make it work. The time commitment is minimal, but your impact could be significant if you step forward.
