As we’ve already mentioned this May we have elections for both parish and district council in Milton. On South Cambridgeshire District Council we have two councillors. Their four year terms aren’t concurrent and this time it’s Cllr Hazel Smith who’s coming to the end of her term.
Unlike the parish council the district council is politicised but unusually there is still a tradition of independents with seven such councillors currently serving, although currently both our councillors sit as Lib Dems. You can find details of the current break down of the council here.
So if you’ve ever thought about standing as a district councillor this is your opportunity. You don’t necessarily have to have the backing of a party to stand, although it will help of course. As I’m sure our existing district councillors will tell you it’s a lot more work than being a parish councillor but it can be very rewarding and you can make a real difference, both for Milton and for the whole district.
