Interested in Seeing Where Your Waste Goes?

If you are then why not join the Milton Environmental Group in a visit to the recycling operations at Donarbon. They will be leaving Milton at 1:45pm on Wednesday 31st March, returning about 4:30pm.

The Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) Plant is the first of its kind in the country and sorts and recycles much of the waste that normally ends up in landfill from people’s “black bag” rubbish. Donarbon have swung into full operation now with our black bin waste being sorted and screened automatically to remove metals, plastics, hardcore etc and leave a compostable material which is then further treated and used as a soil improver.

They can take up to 17 people on the tour. This is the size of the minibus they use for a tour of the bits of the recycling operation outside of the main sorting and composting halls. A few people have already signed up – but please do let Hazel know if you would like to come as it is first-come-first-served.

The group will be organising car-sharing from Milton – please contact Hazel Smith on 860752 or hazel.smith@miltonvillage.org.uk for details.
