Milton Surgery has now had 402 people come to them for a seasonal flu jab after they held drop in clinics last week but are urging people in high risk groups who still haven’t been vaccinated to book an appointment to get theirs.
They are for everyone over 65 and those with certain chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes, heart disease etc.). Please see the NHS Direct Do I need a flu jab? page for more details.
Being vaccinated against seasonal flu is worth doing anyway if you’re in a vulnerable group but early research from Mexico reported in the British Medical Journal this week suggests that it may also make you less vulnerable to Swine Flu which should be an extra incentive.
