A14 Westbound Repair Works

Overnight repairs to the westbound carriageway of the A14 between Junctions 37 (Newmarket) and 31 (Girton) are taking from tonight for the next five weeks. The works are to replace sections of the worn out road surface and road markings. The working hours will be between 8pm and 6am, Mondays to Fridays.

The works will be carried out in four separate phases all of which may affect your journey depending on how you use the A14 but for most people in Milton phases 2 and 3 are probably the most likely to cause you some grief.

Phase 1: Junction 36 (Six Mile Bottom) to Junction 35 (Stow cum Quy) – 1-9 July. Overnight road closures between junctions 36 and 35 during the above working hours. A signed diversion route will be in place for traffic travelling westbound on the A14. Traffic will be diverted off the A14 westbound at Junction 36 (Six Mile Bottom) onto the A11 southbound to Great Abington. Traffic will then be directed westbound on the A505 to join the M11 northbound at Junction 10, to rejoin the A14 westbound at Girton Interchange. Local traffic will be diverted of at Junction 37 (Newmarket).

Phase 2: Junction 33 (Milton) to Junction 32 (Histon) – 9-17 July. Overnight road closures between junctions 33 and 32. Diversion routes will be as Phase 1.

Phase 3:Junction 32 (Histon) to Junction 31 (Girton) – 17-25 July. Overnight road closures between junctions 32 and 31. Diversion routes will be as Phase 1.

Phase 4: Junction 37 (Newmarket) to Junction 36 (Six Mile Bottom) – 27 July to 5 August. Overnight lane closures between junctions 37 and 36. There will be no diversions during this phase but a 50mph temporary speed restriction will be in place overnight.

Access will be maintained at all times for Emergency Services.
