If you are looking for a gift with a difference this Christmas why not sponsor a fruit tree at Milton Country Park?
In the New Year the park’s community orchard will expand with the planting of 12 new fruit trees and the rangers are looking for sponsors for each of the trees at just £50 for a year. All the trees will be local varieties including Cottenham Seedling, Histon Favourite and Huntingdon Codlin apple trees and Cambridge Gage and Wallis Wonder plum trees. All these trees have all been sourced from the East of England Apple and Orchard Project.
Sponsors of the trees can see them blessed at the park’s annual wassailing event on 5 January 2008.
Malcolm Busby, senior ranger at Milton Country Park, said, “Once again we are looking for sponsorship of the trees to help the community orchard to flourish. Watch your tree grow to be bountiful as the park enters its new chapter. The park’s community orchard is very popular with visitors and we are looking forward to adding more trees to it!”
