The Rev Canon Fred Kilner, who was the last but one vicar of Milton and was the man behind the founding of the children’s hospice, retires this Sunday along with his wife The Rev Valerie Kilner who became ordained nine years ago after they left Milton. For the last 14 years they have been at Ely based at St Mary’s Church but also covering, as part of a team ministry, a number of other churches in Ely and the surrounding villages. Their last service together is at 10:30am on Sunday at St Mary’s and they are then retiring to Somersham.
