This web site www.milton.org.uk is owned by me, Paul Oldham. You can find out far more than you really need to know about me on my home pages.
milton.org.uk was actually my first choice as the domain for the village web site but at the time it was owned by a domain squatter. I have a feeling it was a spotty yoof. He was certainly incompetent if he was domain squatting as he never bothered to answer mail I sent him asking if he wanted to sell it.
Eventually, long after miltonvillage.org.uk had become established as the domain for the village web site, milton.org.uk became free as he didn’t renew the registration, so now it’s mine, all mine [insert insane cackling here].
I’ve used it for a number of things over the years but recently it’s seemed sensible to have one central place to act as a portal to various things relating to Milton, some of which have been around for some time now and most of which I originally created.
If you are interested in the technicalities most pages on the main site are generated by
Opus, a content management engine developed by The Hug. We have used it to develop web sites for a variety of organisations and other people have done so too as it’s “open source” and so available for anyone to use without payment.
It’s hosted on our own server, a Linux virtual machine provided for us by Bytemark Hosting.
