We know from the church memorial that his first name was Stanleigh but we can find no trace of him in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
online register.

The reason for this could be that the
Roll of Honour web site claims that both the war memorial and the church memorial have his surname wrong and he’s really Private S Humphrey of the Essex Yeomanry. He died on 22nd December 1917 and is buried at Bellicourt British Cemetery.
