Community groups in South Cambridgeshire are celebrating after sharing a cash injection of over £2,500 to support their projects. In the latest round of grants, three organisations have benefited from South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Community Chest fund.
- The Council awarded £1,000 to Willingham Bowls Club to help them carry out improvements to the bowling green surround.
- Little Shelford Bowls Club received £960 to help repair the roof of the Club’s changing room.
- Papworth and Elsworth WI Choir were awarded £800 to fund the purchase of a new keyboard.
Community Chest grants are available to small voluntary organisations, charities and community for activities and projects that benefit local people.
Cllr Ray Manning, Leader of South Cambridgeshire District Council, said
We are very pleased to be able to support these three community groups. We know that funding is becoming increasingly tough for the community and voluntary sector and these grants will be a welcome boost to local groups who work extremely hard and do an excellent job delivering activities and services for our communities.
I would encourage any other groups in the district who need some financial assistance or advice to get in touch with us and see if we can help.
