Changes to Parliamentary Constituency

It looks like Milton will be changing parliamentary constituency if Boundary Commission for England proposals go ahead.

The Commission published their proposed revision of parliamentary constituency boundaries today. Residents can read all of the information online at the Boundary Commission website or by visiting South Cambridgeshire District Council in Cambourne during office hours.

The changes will see the total number of constituencies in England reduced from 533 to 502 and have been drawn-up to make sure that each constituency contains a similar number of registered electors.

The proposals suggest that the wards of Bar Hill, Bassingbourn, Bourn, Caldecote, Comberton, Gamlingay, Hardwick, Longstanton, Papworth and Elsworth, Swavesey, The Mordens and Willingham and Over would be moved into a new constituency called St Neots.

The wards of Balsham, Fulbourn, Histon and Impington, Linton, Milton, Teversham, The Wilbrahams and Waterbeach – currently within the existing South East Cambridgeshire constituency – would be moved into the South Cambridgeshire constituency.

All other wards in the district would stay within the South Cambridgeshire constituency.

Residents have until 5 December 2011 to have their say on the proposals.
